This red-ochre dyed women's hat (Isicholo) is from the Zulu people, South Africa, and is made of a combination of cotton, human hair over a grass-fibre basketry frame. Traditionally reserved for married women, these hats are now worn during ceremonial events. This hat is raised on a beautifully rusted metal stand. Could be displayed on a wallto create a beautiful accent. 20th century, likely pre-1970’s.
